Appointment Scheduling
Patients are seen on an appointment basis only. Since most of our patients are of school age, it is impossible for us to see everyone during after school hours. Longer procedures such as placement of braces, repairs and removal of braces are scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. We ask for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Once an appointment is scheduled, your appointment slip is your confirmation. House Calls will call the night before your appointment to confirm your office visit. You will also be notified by e-mail two days prior to your appointment, if you have registered for this service
Loose or Broken Appliances (Braces) Please call immediately if there is any unusual discomfort or if any of the appliances are loose or broken. We need to know, in advance, that you are coming in with something damaged in order to have time set aside to attend your problem. If you arrive without notifying us in advance, we may have to reschedule the appliance repair at another time. (Repair appointments are seen between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) Emergency Appointments If you feel you have an emergency, please contact our office at any time. If you call after business hours, there will be a message as to how to contact one of our doctors or the doctor that is taking call. Major emergencies such as trauma to the face or teeth should be dealt with as quickly as possible. Due to the fact that many of our patients have to travel some distance to Hastings, in this situation it would be advisable to contact your family dentist first. Tardy Appointments We appreciate your effort to be on time for your appointment. It is our goal to be on time. If we are running behind, it is because we are giving every patient our best effort. We will do the same for you. Missed Appointments In orthodontic treatment, it is very important to keep every appointment so that treatment proceeds on schedule. Should you find that you need to change or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you do so at least twenty-four hours in advance. As long as we receive at least twenty-four hour notice, there will be no missed appointment charge assessed. However, if you fail to notify our office, there will be a charge of $15 for each fifteen minutes of scheduled appointment time missed. Oral Hygiene We expect every patient to have clean teeth and appliances at all times during their orthodontic treatment. Toothbrushes are available at the oral hygiene station. Upon your arrival should you need to clean your teeth and appliances, please do so before being seated. Poor oral hygiene can result in permanent scarring, decay of tooth enamel and gum disease. All patients are reminded that regular visits to your general dentist are important and necessary while under orthodontic care. Patients should be seen by their general dentist at least once every six months for cleaning and fluoride treatments. Payments and Contracts Patients under contract:
