Dr. Matt Pershing Dr. Matthew Pershing joined Pershing Orthodontics after completing his orthodontic residency program at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. Dr. Pershing is a 1996 graduate of Hastings College and received his DDS degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1999. He was honored by the Academy of General Dentistry with the Senior Dental Student Award and received the outstanding senior student award in Orthodontics and Prosthodontics. Dr. Pershing served four years as a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he completed a General Practice Residency. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan / Uzbekistan) serving as a General Dental and Triage officer. Dr. Matt Pershing is a fourth generation dental graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and a third generation orthodontist. Dr. Pershing is pleased to have joined his father's orthodontic practice. Dr. Robert Butz, Dr. Matt's grandfather, established the original practice in 1956. Dr. Butz was in the first graduating class of orthodontists from the University of Nebraska Orthodontic Residency Program. Dr. Matt Pershing is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists (Board Certified), an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Nebraska Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, Adams COunty Dental Society and Platte River Seminars study club. Dr. Matt Pershing and his wife Stephanie have one daughter and one son. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his young family. Snow skiing, golf and spending time with his family at the ocean are of special interest to him. Dr. John Pershing Dr. Pershing earned his BS in Education from the University of Nebraska in 1970. He was a member of The US Army ROTC and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. Dr. Pershing continued his education at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and graduated in 1973 as a member of OKU, a dental honor society for academics and leadership. From the years 1973-1975 Dr. Pershing served his country by directing a Pediodontic section in the US Army. He completed his Masters of Science while receiving his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1977. Dr. Pershing joined the orthodontic practice of his father-in-law, Dr. Robert Butz, in 1977. Dr. Butz established his practice in 1956, and at the time, it was the first orthodontic practice in south central Nebraska. Dr. Pershing has worked very hard to honor the tradition of excellence set by Dr. Butz. Dr. Pershing's professional affiliations include; Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics (Board Certified), College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontics, American Association of Orthodontists, Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, Nebraska Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, Nebraska Southwest District, American College of Dentists, Adams County Dental Society, Lincoln Orthodontic Study Club and Platte River Dental Study Club. Dr. Pershing and his wife, Cathy, have two sons and four grandchildren. During his free time the doctor enjoys golfing, snow skiing, auto racing, and sailing, all of which are more enjoyable when done with family. Back to top |
