Education

Dr. Matthew Pershing is a 1996 graduate of Hastings College and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 1999. Dr. Pershing joined Pershing Orthodontics after completing his Orthodontic Residency program at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. He was honored by the Academy of General Dentistry with the Senior Dental Student Award and received the Outstanding Senior Student Award in Orthodontics and Prosthodontics.

Experience

Dr. Pershing served four years as a Captain in the US Army where he completed a General Practice Residency. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan / Uzbekistan) serving as a General Dental and Triage officer.

Dr. Pershing is a fourth generation dental graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and a third generation orthodontist. He is pleased to have joined his father’s orthodontic practice. Dr. Robert Butz, Dr. Pershing’s grandfather, established the original practice in 1956. Dr. Butz was in the first graduating class of orthodontists from the University of Nebraska Orthodontic Residency Program.

Dr. Pershing is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Nebraska Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, and Adams County Dental Society.

Outside the Office

Dr. Pershing and his wife, Stephanie, have one daughter and one son. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his young family. His hobbies include snow skiing, golf and spending time at the ocean.
